 Your generous support has allowed Friends of Burma to provide funding to our local leaders who work with different groups, helping them generate some income.  Some groups are women only but some have both men and women.  They used the seed money in various ways:(1) acquiring new skills such as sewing and then work either independently or together with other women as a group (2) gardening and selling the produce for income (3) raising chicken (4) starting a small shop for snacks and some everyday food items such as eggs and others (5) preparing some traditional food from scratch and selling them to neighbors and those who pass by (6) opening a small salon for manicure and pedicure.  They are working hard to meet the need of their families.  Life is not easy for them but they are doing their best. Enabling women earn income through sewing

Your generous support has allowed Friends of Burma to provide funding to a small town women group, to earn income through sewing beautiful traditional clothes.  They not only get some income, but also were able to provide a partial tuition scholarship for a theological student. Recent earthquake in Myanmar(Burma)

  A recent 7.7 magnitude earthquake has caused a devastating effect in central Myanmar, including Mandalay, Sagaing and other cities.  There are reports that the majority of the buildings in Mandalay were damaged or collapsed due to the earthquake. People were also afraid to go back to their homes due to the aftershock effects.  With the temperature of approximately 100F during day time, people in the affected areas are in need of clean water, food and shelter during this time.  Because of the generous donors, Friends of Burma was able to send some help through the local organizations.  Please consider helping in the effort to help people who are in need.
